Originated from the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India, it has become a jewel of any royal kingdoms since 1600 AD, from period of Vijayanagara Rayas when the Nayakas of Thanjavur were under suzerainty.

 

The speciality of this painting is that it is made of pure precious items like gold, pearls, corals and thanjavur stones means with all the natural materials, rather “organic” – today’s terminology for the painting to last for decades.

This art work is originally dedicated to Indian God and Goddesses; however, it is getting renovated to modern forms too.

 

It is suggestible to work on this art form under the proper guidance of a well trained and experienced tutor as it requires lot of patience and effort in making this painting with intrinsic minute work, but absolutely worth!!

 

  1. KERALA MURAL ART:

 

Kerala mural art is also a divine, ancient and traditional form of royal art from Kerala, South India, depicting Hindu mythology dated back to 9th to 12th centuries CE. These mural arts were also admired on the walls of Churches in Kerala to commission these paintings with Christian motifs.

 

Prepared on canvas these days, the original colour palate of this traditional art has 5 main very natural and interesting colours from vegetable and mineral pigments. For instance, red from red laterite, white from lime, black from oil-lamp soot etc.

  1. KINNAL ART :

 

Originated in a profound rich artistic heritage of Kinhal, Koppal District of North Karnataka, India, Kinnal art to its fame in the Pampapateshwara Temple with the intricate work on the wooden chariot at Hampi, said that it is the work of the ancestors of Kinhal artisans. Even today, the town is famous for its Kinhal toys and religious idols.

 

  1. MYSORE PAINTING :

 

Mysore painting is an important classical painting originated from the town of Mysore, Karnataka, India back in Ajanta times of 2nd century B.C. to 7th century A.D.

 

Similar to Tanjore painting but Mysore painting has its own charm.
